About Ted Witt

Learning designer, educator, author, and curious generalist working where instructional design, technology, AI, and applied problem-solving overlap.

I’m interested in what happens when ideas leave the whiteboard and meet real constraints: limited time, imperfect information, changing technology, competing priorities, and actual human beings trying to learn.

We Learn Best from the Mess

What I Do:

Teach

I teach instructional design, systems analysis and design, HCI, project management, and applied technology.

Experiment

I explore emerging tools—especially AI—and turn them into practical frameworks, workshops, examples, and usable design practices.

Design

I build and improve learning experiences, courses, workflows, and production systems.

How I Work

Practical. Curious. Slightly mischievous.

I like messy problems, visible prototypes, evidence over assumptions, and design processes that leave room for revision. I’m less interested in perfect theory than in what actually helps people make better decisions and build better learning.

My work often sits between disciplines: instructional design, learning technology, project management, analytics, AI, and systems thinking. That overlap is usually where the interesting problems live.

Current Work

I teach in the Instructional Design and Learning Technology graduate program at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and work across learning design, AI, systems thinking, and applied technology. I also teach at Purdue University Global in Information Technology. I work for Major League Baseball in Data Operations.

I’m also the author of The AI Field Guide for Learning Designers and the creator of Humans Still Teach.
